Hollywood legend Lauren Bacall has passed away at the age of 89, according to a report at TMZ. The site reports that Bacall suffered a stroke this morning in her home.
Born in 1924, Bacall got her start on Broadway at the young age of 17 in 1942, before being discovered by the influential Hollywood director Howard Hawks for his film To Have and Have Not -- starring her future hubby Humphrey Bogart -- in 1944. Bacall and Bogart began one of Hollywood's most notable romances on the set of that film, a very public romance that would last until Bogart passed away in 1957. She starred in a string of now-classic films throughout the rest of the decade, including The Big Sleep, Dark Passage, and Key Largo, all of them co-starring Bogart.
