Coming out of retirement to play Halo: The Master Chief Collection almost feels like learning how to ride a bicycle again. I could probably recall one near fatal scrape with a car about as clearly as that critical moment in Team Slayer that nearly ended in disaster. After worrying if I even remember how to do this, I humbly pick up the controller to play Lockout for the first time in almost 8 years. I’m happy to report that this classic Halo 2 map still delivers some devilish voodoo magic. In fact, it’s even better than what you remember.
Better, huh? Well, I should probably remind you that, unlike most HD re-makes, Halo: The Master Chief Collection deep dives into epicenter of a console FPS titan with absolute reverence. It comes with four mainlines Halo games. It has every multiplayer map that ever mattered in one convenient place. Bells. Whistles. Some would describe it to close personal friends as, “da works.”
