It is a very retro week here on the eShop, with a whopping four Virtual Console games coming to Wii U and 3DS. The headliner is The Mysterious Murasame Castle, which is a 1986 NES game from Nintendo that has never been released in America before. To complement that 3DS release is a trio of Wii U Virtual Console games, all from 1992, including Super Mario Kart, Cybernator, and Mega Man 5.
Super Mario Kart ($7.99)
Nintendo surprised us all by releasing Super Mario Kart yesterday on Wii U. This classic 1992 Super Nintendo game kicked off the Mario Kart franchise with gorgeous (at the time) Mode 7 graphics, awesome two-player battling, and fun course designs. It's also the only Mario Kart game to feature Donkey Kong Jr., so it has that going for it. Also, if you got this on Wii Virtual Console, you can upgrade for $1.
