Into the Storm sweeps through like an EF-4 tornado: not quite catastrophic, but every bit as painful in the moment. A swirling mess of disaster setups, half-baked characters, and found footage logic-twisting, Final Destination 5 director Steven Quale's Twister-for-Viners relinquishes true terror in favor of more, more, more. Mother Earth roids up to pummel unsuspecting townsfolk and a band of storm chasers with an arsenal of tornado tendrils and a nuke-level vortex. It's breezy. While Quale competently executes the CG-fest, Into the Storm can't turn its meteorological mayhem into anything tangible. When swirling wind starts plowing through barns and high schools and fleets of airplanes, you want to feel it.
