Spoiler for Halt and Catch Fire: Season 1 follow.
Like AMC’s hit period show Mad Men, Halt and Catch Fire takes on one of the most nostalgic periods in American history – the 1980s, in this case – and inserts a fictional company populated by fictional people that interact and react to real history and real pop culture.
With Halt, creators Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers bring an infectious sense of revolution alongside its drama. When the series is at its best, we’re rooting for these technological underdogs and waiting with bated breath for the floor to crumble beneath their feet. It’s this alternating sense of excitement and tension that leaves the first season of Halt and Catch Fire one of the best things on TV this year.
