“The Blood of Brothers” is an episode divided. The first half deals with the direct impact of last week’s cliffhanger and concludes the Pazzi conspiracy story arc. It doesn’t quite maintain the same pace that “The Blood of Man” had but it does deliver the bulk of the action. The second half does a good job of switching gears and allowing the series to get its bearings for the season ahead. Da Vinci and Lorenzo find themselves headed down two very separate paths.
Lorenzo’s mad dash to end da Vinci’s life is diffused relatively quickly by the discovery that Giuliano is dead. That and the fact that he has three pints of da Vinci in him cooled the situation down fast. Lorenzo’s anger transforms into sadness as he discovers his brother is dead and his city is in chaos. This is where all the relationship building between da Vinci and Lorenzo really pays off as the two work together to take back the city.
