Now that we know Jason Aaron is wrapping up his years-long X-Men saga with Amazing X-Men #6 next month, it's tough not to judge these final chapters in that context. Aaron is clearly just getting started with a longer story here as he brings Nightcrawler back into the fold, and we probably can't expect issue #6 to be the perfect, fitting coda to it all. Ignoring all of that, Amazing X-Men #5 is a pretty solid finale to the series' first arc, but it doesn't reach the heights of the previous couple chapters.
