Fall of Fyrestone is IDW's second Borderlands comic book after 2012's Borderlands: Origins. Like Origins, this mini-series is billed as a prequel to the original game. But while it's been a couple years since I played Borderlands, this issue seems less like a prequel and more like a straightforward retelling of the early moments of the game. We see the four Vault Hunters - Mordecai, Lilith, Brick, and Roland - arrive in Fyrestone courtesy of bus driver/gun-runner/all-around scoundrel Marcus. And before the end, they've slaughtered a few bandits and caught the scent of their first real opponent. With little to differentiate this story from that of the game, it's hard to recommend this comic to anyone but hardcore Borderlands fans.
