At the Marvel Animation panel at SDCC this past weekend, Marvel revealed some details about the upcoming seasons of three of its current shows and ended their presentation by showing a clip of a new series based on the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film. First up was the premiere of a new episode of Ultimate Spider-Man Web Warriors, which will begin its third season on Disney XD in September.
The episode shows the beginning of a "Spider Verse" arc that comic book fans are already familiar with. Green Goblin uses Electro's power to open up wormholes into various alternate realities. When Spider-Man follows, he encounters Spider-Man 2099 in one reality, and Petra Parker in a female-dominated society. Each reality has its own animation style as well. Later, they even showed a clip Spider-Man in a wacky adventure with Spider-Ham (Peter Porker). While that arc is slated for next year, the series will start with Spiderman joining the Avengers, and fans can expect to see other favorite characters like Nova, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
