UK-based studio Wonderstruck, whose employee lineup features many veterans of companies such as Lionhead and EA, has announced that its next project Oort Online is now available for early access and pre-order.
Oort Online is an ambitious voxel-based multiplayer sandbox that will have players visiting different planets, each with unique appearances, resources, and player creations. You'll be able to choose what sort of life you lead on Oort, whether it's that of a temple-raiding explorer or a shrewd trader, and craft tools and weapons for your chosen path.
The team hopes that Oort will become a "second home" for its players, and is running a crowdfunding campaign in the hopes of making that dream a reality. Instead of going the usual Kickstarter route, Oort Online can be backed via its website, allowing backers to select from various reward tiers. The lowest paid tier entitles you to a game key upon launch for $15, though if you're really keen, you could pay anywhere from $95 to a whopping $5000 for instant pre-alpha access.
