Director Chosen for Road House Remake

The action cult classic Road House turns 25 next year, so it’s fitting that MGM chose now to announce its pick for director of the upcoming remake: Rob Cohen, the man who directed 2001’s The Fast and the Furious.


Though The Fast and the Furious was a franchise-launching megahit, Cohen has also been responsible for several high-profile but very forgettable action thrillers, including Alex Cross, Stealth, xXx, The Skulls and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. He’s currently working on Blumhouse Productions’ thriller, The Boy Next Door, in which J-Lo has an affair with a teenage neighbor. That probably doesn’t end well for her.


TheWrap reports the new Road House script was written by Michael Stokes, who also wrote Crash Bandits, another project Cohen is attached to helm. As part of his deal with MGM, Cohen will rework the Road House screenplay (hopefully to include a monster truck and a long-haired Sam Elliot).
