In case you missed it, four new games in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona franchise were announced this weekend. The series, which has been steadily growing in popularity in both Japan and the west since its debut on PlayStation in 1996, is set to get not only a new core game, but three complementary games as well.
So if you missed it, here’s what you need to know.
The biggest news to come out of Atlus’ Persona event in Japan is that Persona 5 is real. It’s been a long time since Persona 4 launched on PS2 – it came out in 2008 – and Persona 5 won’t launch until late 2014 in Japan, meaning six years will have passed between entries in the main series.
