Starting with Saga #12, the creative team has experimented with a rather unusual mode of storytelling. That issue left off with Prince Robot IV brutally interrogating D. Oswald Heist, the writer with whom Marko and Alana's family have been hiding. Since then, the narrative has taken a few twists and turns as writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Fiona Staples juggled the many moving pieces of their tale. It's an interesting tactic, but its resulted in a story that's struggled with severe pacing problems. In issue #16, we're seemingly all caught up on events, but the sense of urgency built in earlier issues is all but lost.
