From the beginning, Uncanny Avengers has lurked on the periphery of the Avengers franchise. It features an A-List cast, certainly, but it hasn't really interacted with books like Avengers or New Avengers. Issue #14 is the point where the series looks to begin leaving its mark on the wider Marvel Universe. Marvel promised earth-shattering developments with this new chapter. And while there's plenty left uncertain or up in the air as this issue closes, there's not a sense that all the hype was overblown.
The most obvious and immediate change with this issue is that Steve McNiven has replaced Danial Acuna as penciller. And thus, Uncanny Avengers' habit of attracting the best and brightest talent at Marvel continues. The transitions is slightly jarring in the sense that issue #14 isn't the start of a new story arc so much as a direct continuation of the previous issue. But at this point, Uncanny Avengers doesn't really break down into discrete, isolated arcs.
