We were on hand for last night's Breaking Bad cast and crew reunion at The Grove in Los Angeles where fans were treated to a special screening of No Half Measures: Creating the Final Season of Breaking Bad, a feature-length documentary available on the new Blu-ray box set Breaking Bad - The Complete Series. The screening was followed by a Q&A with creator Vince Gilligan and cast members Bryan Cranston, Dean Norris, Bob Odenkirk, R.J. Mitte, and Lavell Crawford (yes, Huell finally got out of the safe house!).
While our review proper of No Half Measures will be encompassed in our forthcoming overall review of the Breaking Bad - The Complete Series box set, we will say that it's an engrossing albeit rather overlong EPK-style exploration of the show's latter half of swan song episodes. The inside look at the team's creative process --from the writers' room to on-set moments between the cast and directors -- provides great insights into how artists should ideally collaborate. The team members' affection for one another is evident, even more so when one cast member after another wraps their work on the series and says their goodbyes.
