Based on a novel by Chuck Logan, Homefront was adapted for the screen many years ago by none other than Sylvester Stallone. The film originally also had Stallone set to star, but it failed to ever get off the ground and the script was shelved. Eventually, Stallone was too old to play the lead, and Homefront was forgotten. The project was eventually revived with Jason Statham stepping into Sly's would-be role and Gary Fleder (Kiss the Girls) directing. The question is, was it worth reviving?
The story centers on a former DEA agent, Phil Broker (Statham), who retires to a quiet town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter Maddy (Izabela Vidovic). Soon, however, Broker tangles with a local meth drug lord, Gator Bodine (James Franco), who has his sights set on exposing Broker's troubled past.
