Coming to Syfy on November 24th is a six-episode "event series" called Ascension - about 600 American space colonists aboard a ship that was launched by President Kennedy back in 1963 when it seemed like our country was in danger of annihilation. Decked out with all the amenities of a cruise ship (from back in the early 60s), the Ascension is 50 years into a 100-year journey to a place called "Proxima," with many of the original adults on board having already died and the mission now being run by their children and their grandchildren.
Here's an early teaser for the series, though none of the footage is from the actual show...
Executive producer and showrunner Phil Levens and executive producer Jason Blum appeared at the Television Critics Association summer press tour to talk about the new series - which has no actual footage available at this time since it just began production - bringing cast members Brian Van Holt (Cougar Town) and Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) along to field questions from the ballroom of critics.
