It was only a matter of time before the hugely popular Call of Duty franchise advanced beyond World War II, pushed through the Vietnam War and left contemporary warfare in the rear-view mirror.
Such is the case with 2014’s entry Advanced Warfare (and, to a less-futurist extent, Black Ops II), which is set 40 years into tomorrow, and is assumedly only a taste of how far into the future the franchise will travel.
Sledgehammer Games has, at least, attempted to stay grounded in reality, enlisting the minds of warfare futurists to predict the face of war two-score years from now.
That’s playing it safe as far as we’re concerned, so we’ve tilted our heads and peered into our own crystal ball to predict where Call of Duty will go next.
