The Turtles have had a rough go of things as of late, enduring mutant melees, ninja turf wars and the occasional spiritual exorcism. Moments of levity have been few and far between, and while it's been rewarding to see our heroes maturing in the face of continued adversity, writer Tom Waltz wisely forgoes plot for a bit in lieu of some old fashioned (yet hi-tech) action.
Waltz eases off the wood-chipper here in issue #34, delivering a self contained story that essentially serves as an excuse to unleash artist Mateus Santolouco. The issue revolves around Donatello, April and Angel as they work with curmudgeonly scientist Harold Lillja to prepare themselves for the arrival of the Krang and their massive Technodrome. Of course, like all good mad scientists Harold has a few surprises he's been tinkering with, none more fist-punchingly awesome than animated fan favorite, Metalhead!
