True Blood: "May Be the Last Time" Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...


"May Be the Last Time" was dry, middling episode filled with a ton of stalling devices meant to drag out the endgame for this final season. Sookie and Jessica laid around, mourning the thought of eventually losing Bill - both of the almost paralyzed into inactivity. At one point Jessica basically didn't even answer the phone because she was so grief-stricken. And so Bill - the guy rapidly dying of Hep V - wound up creaking his way upright to answer the call.


Sookie, while determined to help Bill (and dead set on finding a miracle for him), seemed to take her time as well. You don't just say that you're headed out to find a cure and then, you know, slowly walk out of the room, gently closing the door behind you. The show is often oddly paced, but this week the moseying nature of the series really didn't gel with the life or death crisis at hand. Especially when Sookie actually made Niall a full spaghetti meal, complete with what looked like garlic bread, before she set out to try and work some fairy magic. I get that it was supposed to be for light laughs, but at that point in the episode it was just one more thing making the story slow down to a crawl.
