Guillermo del Toro's horror thriller The Strain premieres Sunday night on FX. The show features vampires, but in a different light than we're used to seeing them - and they're certainly not the romantic, brooding, good looking type favored in recent years. del Toro teams with Carlton Cuse (Lost) on the series, adapted from del Toro and Chuck Hogan's books.

In this case, vampirism is seemingly caused by an outbreak. When the virus first strikes, the head of the Center for Disease Control's Canary Project (Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, played by House of Cards' Corey Stoll) and his team are called in to investigate, unaware of what he's about to stumble into.
