Starting today, Riot Games is deactivating previously-issued skin codes to prevent further scamming from third party sources, according to the League of Legends blog.
Riot said that a number of sites have frequently exploited players. The sites not only acquire skin codes illegitimately, but also charge excessive prices –– some sites have even accepted payment, only to not provide the content customers paid for. Because of this, the developer needs to deactivate any already-purchased skin codes.
"Getting scammed sucks," the blog reads. "Unfortunately the internet is full of shady people who take advantage of others. At Riot we strive to protect players from these scammers."
