Comfortably reclining in a hotel room with a view of the sea, Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House has every reason to be smiling. Earlier this morning, he and PS4 lead architect Mark Cerny successfully managed to enrapture a packed-out conference room as they delivered the opening keynote for the 2014 Develop Conference in Brighton. With Cerny due to be recognised as an official Development Legend at the industry’s Excellence Awards later in the evening, it’s been an incredible year for the duo that spearheaded the PS4’s announcement, launch and development.
“The hardware is profitable eight months after launch in I think every single region where we’re selling it,” House reveals. “That’s something we haven’t achieved since the PlayStation 2 days… and maybe not even then.”
