Marvel 100th Anniversary: Fantastic Four #1 Review

STK644350 The concept of the Marvel 100th Anniversary books is intriguing enough: let talented up-and-coming creators give readers their take on what the Marvel Universe might be like in the next 25 years. Writer Jen Van Meter and artist Joanna Estep have taken on Marvel’s First Family in the inaugural issue. In terms of execution, it’s a hit.


The premise here is handled interestingly is that it plays out like a basic installment of Fantastic Four, just way down the line. There are references to previous issues that haven’t happened yet and there’s a distinct continuity set up. Van Meter and Estep manage to do this without dumbing anything down to be more understandable but also avoid making it overtly complicated and convoluted. A nice balance.
