European Devs Migrating Toward PC, Mobile, Survey Suggests

European developers are moving increasingly toward PC development and crowdfunding with future projects, according to the GDC Europe 2014 survey.

Among the developers that responded to the survey, 58 percent are working on PC right now, while 60 percent expect their next title to release on PC. Additionally, 60 percent are developing games on mobile now, while 64 percent of them plan to release their next title on the same platform.

More developers are also beginning to acknowledge the benefits of crowdfunding, according to the survey. Although only 10 percent of European devs used crowdfunding for their current games, an increased 41 percent plan to take advantage of the monetization model for their next project –– for comparison, about 11 percent of American developers used crowdfunding for their current projects.
