I had the chance recently to sit down with Sinister director Scott Derrickson to chat about his new supernatural thriller Deliver Us from Evil, which is inspired by the memoir of retired New York police detective Ralph Sarchie (played in the film by Eric Bana). A street cop in the Bronx, Sarchie came to discover that there was more than just the evil that men do in this world. Deliver Us From Evil is a fictionalized take on Sarchie's experiences encountering the demonic.
IGN Movies: One of the things I like about your movies is that everything is reality first, and the fantastical stuff just seems to come into that reality. Can you talk a bit about what your philosophy was to do the horror in this movie?
