Deadpool vs. X-Force #1 Review

STK644185 Everyone knows that the first rule of Deadpool is to not talk about Deadpool, at least not in any manner that seeks to explain him. He is who he is, does what he does, and everything else is pretty much accepted at face value.


It's with that general approach that we're introduced to Deadpool vs. X-Force #1, a "what-if" tale that takes place before the introductory events of New Mutants #98. Deadpool is still a villain, Cable is still leading the New Mutants (spiritually referred to as X-Force) and the years of history between the two don't amount to a hill of beans. Rather than take the time to explain the hows, whys and wherefores, writer Duane Swierczynski does what all good Deadpool writers do, diving into the action without so much as a second thought.
