A venerable who's who of DC writers were on hand in today's DC Comics: The Weeklies Panel, effectively promising that the company's weekly assault on your wallet won't lessen anytime soon. Bob Wayne, DC's SVP Of Sales, led an esteemed panel featuring Batman Eternal scribes Scott Snyder, Ray Fawkes, Kyle Higgins, and James Tynion IV, Futures End writers Jeff Lemire and Dan Jurgens, and Marguerite Bennett and Daniel H. Wilson of the upcoming Earth 2: Worlds End.
Talk started with Batman Eternal, with Wayne asking if Snyder ever sleeps. "I wish." Snyder spoke of how he and Tynion IV first started discussions on crafting an event big enough to affect the entire Bat universe. They stated that the goal was never to create something that only existed in some small corner of the universe, but rather something that affects all of the DCU continuity at large. Snyder revealed that with Zero Year now over, the next issue of Batman will come back to a Gotham rocked by the events of Eternal. As Snyder put it, "My feeling is I've been in the past for so long...now it's time to come back and really see what we can do changing Gotham, celebrating the fact that it's so elastic and so many stories have come about when we've put it through the wringer..." Snyder promised many consequences to these events, stating that they'll have ramifications across multiple titles.
