Wii U System Update Adds Quick Start Menu Option

Nintendo has released its downloadable 5.0.0 system update for the Wii U console.

Its biggest feature is the quick start menu first announced early this year. With it, players will now be able to access recently played or newly installed games if they turn on the system using the GamePad's home or power button.

In addition to the usual stability fixes, the new update also adds the ability for Nintendo to deliver "special notifications" that are displayed on the GamePad when the Wii U is off. System updates will also now automatically install when the Wii U is in standby.
