One of the things that has made Warren Ellis' Moon Knight run so memorable is the fact that Ellis doesn't limit himself by any preconceived notions of what a Moon Knight story should involve. There's gritty street drama and such, but Ellis realizes that a man empowered by an ancient god need not be limited to pummeling thugs and gangbangers. Case in point, issue #4 sees Marc Spector head into the dream world to confront an unspeakable horror that attacks victims while they're sleeping. It's almost the sort of premise you'd expect from a Doctor Strange tale. But it fits right in with Ellis' pitch of Moon Knight as the defender of those who "travel by night."
