Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Shakes Things Up

Regardless of how much I’ve loved Borderlands 2, after over two years of shooting-and-looting, I didn’t think anything short of a full-blown current-gen sequel could get me excited for more Borderlands. Turns out, I couldn’t be more wrong. Space walking over enemies’ heads, and raining elemental death down upon them before ground pounding them into the next zipcode has me ready to take at least one more new character to the level cap, if not more, thanks to the sweet new skill trees, and funky-fresh new weapons.


When I first saw vault-hunters (yes, these characters are indeed vault-hunters) gracefully jumping long chasms, I was equal parts intrigued and concerned. I liked the extra mobility and verticality, but I didn’t want to have to trade away speed. In practice though, the zero-g elements can make combat faster and more dynamic. I could sprint, take a short hop and instantly turn on my oz boosters to hurtle through the air, and use the ground pound to stop on a dime while devastating anyone below me. Throw in the occasional jump pad, and it felt like I could be everywhere at once.
