Battlefield Hardline Campaign Inspired by Multiplayer

Dead Space developer Visceral isn’t known for making the sort of sandbox experience that defines Battlefield. Historically, the studio’s strengths lie in authored single-player narrative, not chaotic, emergent multiplayer stories. This isn’t a secret inside the studio, and it’s something Battlefield: Hardline creative director Ian Milham is visibly ecstatic about.


“One of the things I think that people have really thirsted for over time is some of the awesome stuff that happens in the multiplayer -- some of the immersion, some of the choice -- to have that more represented in the single player,” Milham told IGN. “That's been a goal of ours since the beginning.”


Visceral general manager Steve Papoutsis echoed this sentiment. “Can you imagine if we could deliver the same level of quality experience and depth of player experience on the multiplayer side but brought a single-player that could be at the same level? What a great opportunity and a great experience that'll be for players.”
