Crypt of the NecroDancer: A Roguelike...Dance Game?!

With their innumerable enemies, hefty death penalties and sprawling, often randomized dungeons, roguelikes are already incredibly difficult. Now, imagine all of that combined with having to move and attack in time with the pulsating beat of catchy music. Mixing rhythm-based action with traditional roguelike gameplay may sound improbable, but Crypt of the NecroDancer effortlessly blends the two.


Crypt of the NecroDancer, which recently became available on Steam Early Access, features all the traditional roguelike fixings. You must move from floor-to-floor of a large dungeon, picking up weapons, armor, and spells as you encounter deadlier monsters. Death will put you back at the start with nearly all of your gear lost. The one catch here is that you and your enemies all move to the beat of each floor’s unique background music. Turns out, killing skeletons and zombies in rhythm with music is a whole lot of fun.
