WildStar Review in Progress: First Steps on Nexus

June 2: First Steps, Progression, and Cooperation


As the clock struck midnight on May 31 in Carbine Studios’ native California, a horde of intergalactic immigrants waited for WildStar’s three-day head start to actually begin. Temporarily postponed due to a reported DDOS attack, the preorder soft launch was less of a surge and more of a trickle, as players eventually began the migration to the freshly discovered planet Nexus. Beyond that brief chapter of its launch, WildStar performed as many, even most, massively multiplayer online (MMO) launches tend to go, with an influx of new blood that saw servers filled and wait times begin to form. It’s an issue that persists even now, to the point where only a handful of servers have any vacancy at peak times.
