"Everyone in this part of Brooklyn is already dead."
And so ends Louie's Elevator miniseries (of sorts). With an affectionate moment between Louie and Amia - and a Hungarian waiter asked to sit and read Amia's touching farewell letter to Louie at a posh bistro.
There was no major swerve right there at the end. Amia didn't die of a stroke. Louie's kids didn't get swept away in the hurricane flooding. It all played out (mostly) straight. With moments of quirky levity thrown in - like Louie holding the waiter's hand at the end when he was trying to tell Amia that he felt the same way.
