Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...
"Reflection" made some good seasonal headway, with Ryan and Max closing in on Joe in Connecticut, but it also contained some of the same standard Following stalling tactics - namely Ryan and Max both not being a true match for their adversaries. In fact, it's a wonder at this point why Ryan's so confident going after these killers on his own when time and time again he's unable to credibly capture them.
That being said, Ryan did manage to fumble his way into killing not only one of the Paris twins, but Gisele - who he finally stabbed in a moment of self-defense/desperation after she lied to him about killing Max. The episode ended on Ryan discovering Max alive back in the hotel room and hugging her tight, but one wonders if this scare was enough to alter his course in any way. It would be too much for Ryan (and the series) to lose Max too, so there's a part of me that considers her to be safe. Well, safe-ish. I mean, we know it's not above this show to rehash old arcs.
