The Flash #28 Review

flash28 The Flash #28 sees the return of writer Brian Buccellato, and this time, he's joined by artist Patrick Zircher. The issue focuses on a murder investigation with a twist: the perp is a ghost. Sort of. And since supernatural baddies are the order of the day, who better to help Barry Allen sort out the mess than Deadman? It sounds good on paper, but unfortunately, the book doesn't quite take advantage of that team-up's potential.


The issue trips up on the surplus of emotional baggage it's carrying. Barry is still stirring up his own ghosts by investigating his Mother's death -- and trying to prove his father's innocence. Barry's desperation to uncover the truth casts a pall over the book's events, limiting the possibility presented by having not one, but two, supernatural beings go body-hopping in the Flash's meat suit. Deadman can be such a riot of a character, and he's sadly underutilized here.
