While a lot of events and crossovers peter out over time, "The Trial of Jean Grey" mash-up does the opposite. It got off to a slow start but is quickly building up steam as it moves towards the climax. Brian Michael Bendis has some especially juicy material to work with in this fourth chapter, as young Cyclops has just discovered that his father is still alive and serving as captain of a crew of space pirates. This issue does a great job of capturing the whirlwind of emotions upon making such a discovery. And while in one or two cases the writing veers a little bit into melodrama, usually characters like Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon are able to keep things grounded with their snark.
