At this point, we've come to expect the big superhero tentpoles of summer movies; this year alone we've got Captain America, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spider-Man. But just as comics are more than just tights and capes, so too are comic book adaptations.
We thought it'd be fun to point out some of the upcoming movies of 2014 that you might not know have their roots in the comic book medium.
Based On: The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons
Mark Millar’s comic book projects seem to get snatched up by Hollywood before they even finish releasing, but Kingsman: The Secret Service is the first one to actually have something to show for itself since Kick-Ass. Debuting in 2012 from Marvel’s Icon Comics, The Secret Service is similar to what the trailer gives us; an experienced spy taking on a loose cannon protégé.
