Report: EA Aims to Earn $1 Billion From Add-On Content This Year

According to a recent report from Bloomberg, EA could make $1 billion this year from the sales of add-on content.


This includes revenue gathered from add-on content in all of EA's games, especially from the publisher's sports franchises. Games within the Madden and FIFA lineup are expected to contribute a large percentage to the earnings.


EA's John Resseburg confirmed that add-on content like Ultimate Teams in Madden has grown 350 percent year-over-year since their last earnings report. Analyst Doug Cruetz expects add-ons in Madden NFL 15 alone to generate more than $50 million to add to its projected game sales of $300 million.
