BoJack Horseman: Season 1 Review

Netflix's latest original series gallops into the arena of adult animation. BoJack Horseman, which debuted this past Friday, centers on a has-been celebrity; BoJack the horse (Will Arnett) was once a sitcom star from the '90s but hasn't done much since except screw up relationships, hate himself, and drink and do drugs. A book deal to publish his life story could turn things around though. BoJack's surrounded by a cast of friends like his human roommate Todd (Aaron Paul), agent and ex-girlfriend Princess Carolyn the cat (Amy Sedaris), human ghost writer Diane Nguyen (Alison Brie), and an affable rival canine named Mr. Peanutbutter (Paul F. Tompkins).


Once of the most interesting aspects of the world created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg is that anthropomorphic animals coexist beside humans, and that's just the way it is. They're in relationships with each other, they sleep with each other, and no explanation is offered. I appreciate that no-nonsense, no handholding approach.
