He’s Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon and the role model for many. And now that we finally have confirmation that he’ll be back for Star Wars: Episode VII, why don’t we take a look at some of the lesser known aspects of the character’s history?
Here are nine things you probably didn’t know about Han Solo!
Han first popped up in George Lucas’ 1974 rough draft Star Wars script -- though at the time he was a big green alien with gills and no nose. He was also a Jedi. But he still hung out in a cantina at least.
Harrison Ford beat out a crop of other familiar faces when auditioning for the role, a list that reportedly included Nick Nolte, Christopher Walken, and Snake Plissken himself -- Kurt Russell.
