Fargo: "Who Shaves the Barber?" Review

A quick review tonight, but I wanted to touch on an episode that saw Lester nearly transformed into the monster that Lorne dreamed he could be and established Malvo himself as all but unbeatable. The interesting thing is that it doesn’t feel as though Lester has become an entirely new man. The truth is, he has simply allowed himself to unleash the demon that always lived inside him, but he was too frightened to reveal. Malvo’s gift isn’t the ability to turn someone against their inherent nature; it’s the capacity to unearth what’s bubbling just below the surface.


Lester always saw himself as a “victim”; and to some degree that was true, though he undoubtedly allowed others to treat him poorly. Now, he’s simply using that persona to his advantage. So much so, that he now genuinely believes that the world owes him anything and everything that he’s bold enough to demand. His metamorphosis has been fascinating to behold. The question is: How much further will he go?
