A new trailer for The Strain -- an upcoming series from executive producer Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim) and showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost) -- has debuted, revealing the first footage from the upcoming vampire series (earlier teasers used evocative imagery shot specifically for the promotional campaign).

The Strain marks FX’s foray into Sunday night programming -- joining the ranks of popular genre cable shows like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.
The series (which has been given a 13-episode Season 1 order) follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (House of Cards' Corey Stoll) -- the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City -- who investigates a viral outbreak that derives from an evil strain of vampirism. Banding together a team of New Yorkers, Goodweather wages a war for the future of humanity.
