You’ll be forgiven if you take a quick look at Battlecry – a new free-to-play third-person multiplayer game from a startup studio of the same name – and initially think it’s a multiplayer spinoff of Dishonored. The two share a visual style and a publisher (Bethesda), but the purely coincidental similarities end there.
Rather than be content to enter the crowded shooter market, Battlecry ditches the usual assortment of guns for swords, bows and arrows, and a third-person camera. Teamwork is key in this team-based fantasy clash, whether you’re playing as the Enforcer (giant sword), Duelist (two smaller swords with a quicker but less powerful attack), or Tech Archer (crossbow) on either the Royal Warrior or Cossack Empire sides of the battle. If you’re outnumbered, odds are you’re going to perish.
