One of America’s most accomplished thespians, Kevin Costner is a multi-award winning actor, director, producer, musician, and baseball fan. While he had a bit of a shaky time in the mid-90s with the double whammy of sci-fi flops Waterworld and The Postman, Costner’s career soon bounced back, and as a result he’s got one of the most impressive resumes of any actor in the past 30 years or so.
With his new action thriller 3 Days to Kill hitting theaters this week and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit already out, we thought it was about time we break down Costner’s 15 best movies.
Despite receiving mixed reviews at the time of release, The Bodyguard wound up being one of the great romances of the 1990s, the second highest grossing movie of 1992, and the best-selling motion picture soundtrack ever. While Whitney Houston’s cover of the Dolly Parton classic “I Will Always Love You” is what most remember the film for, Costner’s performance as Frank Farmer is noteworthy. He’s a former secret service agent that’s haunted by his failures and his complicated relationship with Houston’s Rachel.
