The Olympic Athletes You Don't Know About

We all know about the select few Olympic athletes who have found lasting success as actors, especially Golden Age stars such as Sonja Henie, Johnny Weissmuller, Buster Crabbe, and Bruce Bennett. Most people are also aware of the Olympic exploits of entertainment personalities such as Bruce Jenner, Summer Sanders and Kurt Angle. And of course no one could forget that Shaquille O'Neal (Blue Chips, Kazaam), Ray Allen (He Got Game), and most of the cast of Space Jam played on the U.S. men's Olympic basketball "Dream Teams."


Most everyone knows those names. But you, dear reader, demand more. Here's a list of stars with Olympic careers that aren't so well known...


Born in Hawaii in 1920, Toshiyuki “Harold” Sakata will forever be remembered as Auric Goldfinger’s henchman Oddjob. Before he began throwing hats at James Bond, Sakata first found fame representing the stars and stripes at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, where he took home a silver medal in weightlifting. After the Games Sakata became a professional wrestler under the name Tosh Togo, which eventually led to his discovery and casting by Bond producers Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli in 1964. After his Bond debut, Sakata went on to feature in many films and TV shows.
