Greg Rucka is a writer who has always struck a balance between work-for-hire and creator-owned projects. And lately, the pendulum has swung towards the latter as Rucka has focused on books like Lazarus at Image and his web comic Lady Sabre & The Pirates of the Ineffable Aether, as well as upcoming projects like Veil and the return of his investigative drama Stumptown. But somehow, Rucka has found time in between all of that to tackle a new Marvel project. Yesterday the publisher revealed their latest addition to the ever-growing X-Men franchise - Cyclops.
Cyclops will launch in May and spin directly out of the events of the current crossover storyline between All-New X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy. As revealed in All-New X-Men #23 yesterday, Cyclops' father Corsair is still alive and back in command of the Starjammers. As the new series opens, the time-displaced younger Cyclops has elected to stay in space and get to know the father he lost as a young boy. The result will be a father/son drama set against the backdrop of an epic "space fantasy" adventure.
