Believe it or not, 2014 is the 35th anniversary of the original Alien movie. Unsurprisingly, 20th Century Fox have some big plans in store this year, and part of that plan includes some nifty new collectibles for fans of the franchise. But what is surprising is that fans can finally look forward to a movie-accurate action figure of the franchises' lead heroine, Ellen Ripley.
Much like Jack Nicholson and his iconic version of Joker, actress Sigourney Weaver has always shied away from signing over her likeness rights for Alien collectibles. Those few Ripley figures that have been produced over the years have been forced to portray a generic female action hero instead. But much like how Nicholson finally partnered with Hot Toys a couple years ago, Weaver has granted approval for NECA to craft movie-accurate Ripley figures. The first of those will depict Ripley in her Nostromo space suit from the first movie. That'll be followed by a second figure based on Ripley's appearance in 1986's Aliens.
