So far, no information has been revealed about the premise of The Walking Dead spinoff. However, TVLine's Michael Ausiello is now reporting that the spinoff may be a prequel - "one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it." Ausiello notes that AMC declined to comment.
It has previously been said that the spinoff will be about a new group of characters, and Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman (who is one of the executive producers on the spinoff), told IGN's Chris Carle recently, "It’s a really different location with completely different people, so we are going to see an entirely different corner of the Walking Dead world. It definitely won’t be set in Georgia, I can at least say that. It’s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spinoff has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we’ve all sold out."
